"Her name was April" Bailey is just starting to be a teeny-tiny bit in love (his words) with a girl in his class, April. She came over today and they went to rest on his bunk bed and share a box of conversation hearts. If they werent a mere six years old, that would actually be quite romantic! Its been ages since Ive properly updated. At this point, I think its time to just shoot for a bulleted list... *Im afraid that weve started the kids on the path towards hallucinogenic drug use. We took them to a laser light show at the planetarium last night. The music was Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band and they both loved it. Unfortunately, Jared couldnt last in the dark and fell asleep about a third of the way through the show. *The new semester started at work this week. I had more than half of my students change classes. Im not talking about changing their schedule around and winding up in another of my classes. Im talking about getting over 90 students coming in from other teachers. I guess the issue is that with me teaching the split 7th/8th schedule, there wasnt as much wiggle room for kids who needed to change to another of my class periods. More than half the day Im not teaching their grade level. Supposedly this wont be happening next year. *On top of kid schedule changes, I had to get projects graded and final grades turned in to the office. Tons of work, but the kids did some really great projects so I was pleased. *The past two weekends weve headed out of town for Gaucho basketball games. The boys won at Davis, lost at Cal Poly. My kids had a blast and it was nice for me and Ryan to see a couple of games. *My astronomy class is pretty fun. We were supposed to have our first midterm this week, but its been pushed back until the 7th now. Ive stayed on top of my reading and studying so Im not freaking out about the test (yet!). *I finally decided to jump on the bandwagon and watch Lost. Over the past couple of weeks Ive seen the first season (I love getting DVDs in the mail!). Its safe to say that Im intrigued so far. *Jared and I watched School of Rock the other night. It was better than I thought it would be. I mean, dont get me wrong, it was a dumb movie. But, it was that good, funny kind of dumb. I was entertained. Jared didnt recognize his hero, Adam Pascal, with a mullet. He kept asking me when Adam was going to be on and I kept saying, Hes right there. I finally had to laughafter the 5th time through this conversation! *The other 8th grade science teachers and I decided on what to do with the kids who stay at school during Yosemite week. Since Ill be the only science teacher on campus (couldnt get away that week because I have a midterm and Alisas bridal shower) I offered to put together the unit. Were going to do a forensic science CSI thing. Im excited! *Speaking of the bridal shower, I got all the materials to make the invitations yesterday. I ordered my dress last week. The wedding is getting closer and closer. When they started planning it was so far away. Now, its time for all of the pre-wedding festivities. Im swamped with planning, but in a good way. And now, Im tired and I have lesson planning to do and flashcards to study still tonight. Id rather read until I finish my book, though. I dont feel all that great, either. Im on the verge of just writing out some lesson plans and calling in for tomorrow. 1 comments Listening to: The kids not going to bed Reading: Wicked by Gregory Maguire Eating/drinking: Venti Soy Cinnamon Dolce Latte Do what to me?!? - April 24, 2007 Wicked funny websearch - April 05, 2007 Trot out the dogs 'n ponies - March 31, 2007 Almost done... - March 20, 2007 Who am I? - March 12, 2007 READ ME |
