Did you know... ...that Kaiser employs some advice nurses who can think and not just read a script? I didn't either! Bailey's culture came back positive this morning. Mine came back negative. First, some history on me and illness... I used to get symptomless strep as a kid. Whenever my brother had it, they'd check me. More often than not, I had it too. Big, sore red throat, lots of pus, and no pain or fever. I still get feverless sinus and ear infections now. If I start to run a fever, it's usually bad. OK, so Ryan called Kaiser advice to see how long I had to wait to be re-swabbed. I've got a fever. I've got glands so swollen that turning my head hurts and they are painful if you touch my neck. I've got a very swollen throat. It's all red and has white pus spots on it. I've got (sorry if this is TMI) diarrhea. All symptoms of strep. The advice nurse immediately said that it sounded like the swab missed the infection or was done a tad too early. And she left a message for my doctor to call me. She did, and based upon my symptoms plus two kids diagnosed with strep, she's calling in a prescription. Thank goodness. I cried when I thought that I'd have to wait a couple of days to be treated. past | future0 comments Listening to: Reading: Eating/drinking: Do what to me?!? - April 24, 2007 Wicked funny websearch - April 05, 2007 Trot out the dogs 'n ponies - March 31, 2007 Almost done... - March 20, 2007 Who am I? - March 12, 2007 READ ME |
