Life is getting away from me....

Over a weekI dont even know where to begin, so Im going to do a summary-style update.
*Car accident: The other insurance company finally took responsibility. Getting the rental car was a major adventure, though. First, we got to the place and they didnt have a 4 door car, although we were assured theyd have one for us. The poor guy working starts to tell us that insurance usually only covers a small car, blah, blah, blah. Yeah, whatever. I nicely but firmly told him that we were getting a bigger car because the girl who rear-ended me had the misfortune of hitting a car that carries 2 car seats. Therefore, the replacement that her insurance was paying for would need to comfortably hold 2 car seats. He took us over to another of their offices, where he found us a 4 door car. I went to install Baileys booster seat, reached into the seat to hook the lower tether, and got cut on a bunch of broken glass. This is where I turned to Ryan and said, You go tell them. They dont want to hear from me right now. So, the car gets vacuumed, and we head out. My car was ready late Friday afternoon, and we went to pick it up Saturday morning, only to walk in and be told that we owed $1200+ before we could take the car. Uh, no. Sorry. So we left without the car. Apparently, although we told her repeatedly to direct bill, the insurance agent cut us a check for the car. But we were supposed to pick up the car Saturday at the latest, or they didnt want to pay for the continued use of the rental. We did manage to explain, again, that she needed to direct bill the job, and we were able to pick up the car yesterday. I arrived home with the repaired car at 3pm. At 4pm, the check arrived. I voided it and moved on.
*Summer School: Teaching, planning, grading, and packing up have been keeping me busy. School ends this Friday. I am glad. Ive been in a classroom with no air conditioning all summer. And, its been hot! My students wanted grades, so Ive been diligently grading every paper and entering it into the computerized grade program. Not a big deal, but we dont get any paid prep time during summer school, and Ive been trying not to work too many unpaid hours. This is my vacation, after all!
*Life in General: The pool in our complex is closed. Apparently someone has been pooping in it. Seriously, thats what the notice said, quotes and all. Im thinking what they meant was some idiot has confused our pool with a toilet bowl and has been taking large craps there but used the more acceptable term pooping instead. Amazing.
A play structure appeared in our complex overnight. At least, it wasnt there Thursday night, and it was there Saturday morning. Im glad. I am one of those bad mommies who means to take the kids to the park more than I really do. This way, the park is right there. Its easier to get the kids to leave, because its easy to go back. Since Saturday, I think weve had 6 playground visits. Happy children, happy parents, life is good there.
Ive been trying to get a handle on the major cleaning projects at home. Ill be shampooing the carpets some time next week. Ill also be putting away the clothes that the boys have grown out of and pulling out the new hand-me-downs for Jared. Both kids have sprouted like weeds the past month or so.
For the rest of my summer, I want to relax and slowly get ready for school. Ive just about finished moving my stuff out of Sylvandale. All thats left is the stuff Im still using this week. Id like to get into my classroom at Cupertino and slowly get it set up.a few hours at a time over several days. If I can do that, Ill be happy. Id also like to get my hands on my teachers guides and any pacing charts that exist already. Id like to have some idea of what Ill be doing the first week of school! Besides that and the cleaning, Im hoping to do some scrapping and lots of reading.
Boring, I know, but its been keeping me busy. Apparently too busy to get in here and write.
