Finally! June 10th is finally here. In 6 hours and 15 minutes, this school year will be over for me. I thought it would never end. Of course, my principal is still pulling her crap. I'm glad that she felt she could be consistant right up to the last minute. In the past week, here are some of the gems to come out of her mouth... *At Tuesday night's School Site Council meeting, the minutes were read. Right there in black and white was the fact that at the last meeting she told the Council that she could spend the school's money however she wants. She denied ever saying that and convinced them to change the minutes to reflect what she wishes she had actually said. *Our union president came to talk to her. My principal said to her, "Under what authority are you here representing my teachers?" Uh, let's see...that would be under the authority of our contract. The president is elected by us, and the fact that I shell out about $800 a year to the union gives her the right to represent me. *At yesterday's staff meeting she announced, in her "I'm being so benevolent" voice, that she has decided to make class periods 50 minutes next year. And, the reason that she didn't let us know sooner is because the county wanted 60 minute periods, but she understands that our contract won't allow that and, in her words, "I'm not one to go against the contract." What?!? She's fought the contract all year, even gone so far as to tell us that it is outdated! *Speaking of going against the contract, I asked for my evaluation form so that I could sign it. Her reply..."My school year doesn't end for 2 more weeks. I'll try for tomorrow, but if not, let's do it on Tuesday." Her school year may not end until June 30th, but I'm on vacation starting today and the district can not require me to come in to do business during my break. They can ask but they can't require it. So, I called HR and was told that she does in fact need to have it to me by the end of today. And if she doesn't, then I'm supposed to "let her sink" and they will deal with her failure to do her job. I like that! There are more, but I've got to get myself ready for school. Jared is going with me today, so I need to get him ready, too. And, he's demanded a stop at McDonald's for hotcakes on the way. It's almost over... I can taste the freedom... No more evil principal for 2 months....
