"Well, that sucks!" Don't you just love it when your child says something loudly in public (it's always loud if it's going to make you cringe) and you want to crawl under a rug and hide, but everyone in the entire hemisphere is looking at you? Yeah. It's fun, ain't it? We were eating dinner last night at IHOP and Jared asked for something. I can't even remember what it was that he asked for, but when I told him that they don't have it, he stood on the bench and said, loud enough to be heard 3 states away, "Well, that sucks!" I looked at Ryan. Ryan looked at me. We were surprised because that was a new phrase for Jared. I asked Jared, "Did you just say, 'that sucks?" He nodded. People all over the restaurant are staring at us, and I now feel the pressure to handle this "right." I definitely think there are worse things that could come out of his mouth, but with all the people looking at me, I had to do something. So, I told him that it isn't a very nice thing to say. And, in his innocent three-year-old voice, still loud enough for everyone to hear, he sounded confused as he replied, "But Daddy says that all the time." I had to turn away. I couldn't help it. I started laughing. And, then I felt good because IT WASN'T MY FAULT.
