The Good, the Bad, & the Gradulation

The Good: Today I got a letter from the San Jose Unified School District. I am part of their teacher "early eligibility pool" which means that next month I'll get a letter listing openings and I can call the principals to arrange interviews. This list is usually only available to current district employees, so I am pretty flattered. I am not really very interested in working for them, but a friend of mine works at one of the middle schools, so she talked me into applying. I have to admit that it would be nice to move to a school where I already know someone. Still, I am keeping my fingers crossed for an offer from Cupertino or Santa Clara.
The Bad: We just got a call from Ryan's sister. She called from a hospital in San Diego. It seems that Ryan's mom has been feeling short of breath for the last couple of days. Earlier, today she thought she felt a couple of heart palpitations. So, she called her doctor, and was told to go to the ER. Of course, my MIL never stops to take care of herself, so she said, "no" and was done with the doctor. Not really sure why she called if she didn't want to listen, but that's *so* her personality. Later on her doctor called her back and again told her to get herself to the ER. Finally, she called my SIL and they went in. The ER doctors were concerned. They couldn't find anything wrong, but they didn't feel right sending her home. She's in the hospital for the night, and is having an angiogram in the morning. It's going to be tough to sleep tonight.
The Gradulation: Jared had his pre-school "gradulation" (as he says it) today. For the last six weeks he has been going to a class at one of the local high schools. It is part of their child development class to run this program. He really loves it, although to hear him tell it, all he does is play legos for an hour and a half every day. I know he must do other stuff, too. We saw a Power Point presentation today and there were photos of him playing outside, coloring, doing a science activity. He brings home art projects and even a plant. Still, he insisits that it's all about the legos. Goofball!
